Spring on the Grand Mesa

We went up to the Grand Mesa and camped at Jumbo Lake. It was absolutely beautiful! There were so many flowers in bloom and everything was so green from all of the recent rain. We had a little rain on Saturday and on Sunday while driving through the canyon on the way back to Grand Junction, lightning struck wall about 500 yards away on the canyon wall. It was SO loud; scared us both:) We saw a beautiful double rainbow on our walk on Saturday. It stayed in the sky for at least 20 minutes and kept getting brighter and brighter. Here are the first few pictures from my week long trip to Hovenweep NP and Chaco Canyon. My friend Vicki and I had a wonderful time! The weather was mostly gorgeous except for a couple of windy days and I was amazed at the architectural skills of the people who build these incredible buildings. I have visited both parks before and each time I appreciate them more and more.
